The hourly clock is the thing owners fear. A firm that shows the number reads as one that has nothing to hide.
02A named accountant, not a ticket
People buy the person. Put a face and a name on the page, because the relationship is the product.
03The switch, made painless
Say plainly that you handle the handover from the old accountant. What stops owners moving is the hassle, so take it away.
04Deadlines you can see
A live countdown and a clear "here's what we need from you" beats another reminder email into a full inbox.

A site gets you found. These four run all year in the background, and every one of them is a small build. Ask anyone in the practice which they did after close last night.

Chasing records before the deadline

Today

An information-request letter in April, then chasers in June, July, September, November. The client portal you pay for sits empty, so someone hand-writes "here's what's still missing" emails, one inbox at a time.

What I'd build

A chase sequence in your firm's voice that names each client's outstanding items and steps up as the deadline nears, plus a one-tap branded upload page, no login, that files documents straight into the storage you already use.

Onboarding a new client

Today

Every new client means ID and address checks you're legally on the hook to keep for five years, chased by email like everything else. Engagement letters get retyped and reissued by hand, usually every year.

What I'd build

One onboarding flow: an enquiry form, ID and document capture, then a templated engagement letter out for e-sign. It lands in the checklist or verification tool you already run, so nothing gets keyed twice.

Deadlines on a spreadsheet

Today

Due dates live on an Excel tab and a pile of Outlook reminders. One deleted row and a return goes in late. And clients keep emailing to ask where things are, which is a second job on top of the first.

What I'd build

A deadline dashboard that fills itself from the free Companies House feed, with a traffic-light chase status, plus an optional client-facing "your jobs" page that heads off the where-are-we emails before they land.

The MTD quarterly cycle

Today

From April 2026, affected sole-trader and landlord clients keep digital records and file quarterly, plus a final return. That's roughly five filing points a client where you had one, and the record-chase from job one, four times over.

What I'd build

An "are you caught by MTD?" checker on your site that follows HMRC's own logic, so it pulls in leads and triages clients, feeding a per-quarter countdown and upload chase split by threshold year.
