Composite, timber and oak buildings, from more than one manufacturer. We put them in, and we build the garden that goes round them.

Why us
Anyone can put a building in your garden. Fewer people can put a garden round the building.
We started as a garden design and landscaping studio, and the buildings came later because clients kept asking. The same team draws and builds the paving, the levels, the planting and the lighting, so the finished thing looks like it was always meant to be there.

The difference
Order a garden room from most suppliers and a lorry turns up, a crew builds it, and they go. What's left behind is a building on a base and a lawn with a scar across it where the digger went.
We do the same delivery and the same build. Then the paving, the steps, the beds, the lighting and the turf are ours too, on the same quote, from the people who design gardens for a living.

The buildings
Composite rooms. Timber rooms. Oak-framed buildings and garages. Outdoor kitchens. Which one you end up with depends on the garden, the ground and what you're actually going to do in there, which is why nothing gets picked before somebody has stood in the space with you.

Four o'clock to nine
Ask anyone why they want a garden room and they'll describe an evening. Lights on, back door open, the garden going blue round the edges. So we drew one garden twice, at four o'clock and at nine, and let you scroll between them.
The glass comes up first, then the terrace, the festoons, the path and the borders, in the order a real scheme gets switched on.
What people actually do with them
Rubber floor, a rack, and glass doors onto the lawn. Straight out of the back door and open at six in the morning.
A lit path from the back door, the tub outside, and somewhere dry to sit when it turns. Which it will.
A pool table sets the size of the building before anything else does. Tell us on the visit and we'll measure round it.
Grill, worktop, a run of covered paving, and the room right behind it for when everyone piles inside.
Garden designers first
Umberlow is a garden design and landscaping studio working across Coventry, Solihull, Warwick, Leamington Spa and Stratford-upon-Avon. The same people draw the garden, lay the base and put the building up.
That's the whole point of it. The building is one line on a job that also has levels, drainage, paving, planting and lighting on it, and one company answers for the lot.

Also on the list
Oak-framed garages, car ports and annexes, for people who want the building to look like it's been there longer than the extension has.

Before you ring
Answered the way they get answered on the doorstep, including the one where the answer is that you might not need us.
It depends on the height, how close the building sits to a boundary, how much of the garden it covers, and whether the house is listed or in a conservation area. We check it before we quote, and if it needs an application we tell you on the visit rather than three weeks later.
Because the number moves. A sloping plot with no side access costs more to get a base into than a flat one with a drive down the side, and two people asking for the same building often want a very different amount of garden round it. You get a fixed quote after a free site visit, in writing, with the groundwork and the landscaping priced separately so you can see what each part costs.
Then use them. If the base is in, level and the right size, and you only want the building supplied and put up, that's a shorter conversation and a smaller quote. The garden design earns its money when the ground is a mess, when there are levels to sort out, or when this thing is going to be the view from the kitchen window every day.
Some. A base has to be dug and concreted, and a machine has to get down the side of the house or across the lawn to do it. Ask about access on the visit. It's the part that catches people out, and far easier to talk about standing in the garden than over the phone.

Next step
Somebody comes out, walks the garden with you, measures up and talks through what will actually fit. You get a fixed quote after that, in writing. It costs nothing and you're not committing to anything by having it.
