No heating, radiators cold
Usually a valve, a pump or a lockout with a code on the display. One question tells us which.
Boiler pressure keeps dropping
Water is going somewhere. Often a relief valve or a flat expansion vessel, and both are cheap to put right.
Leak under the sink
Waste joint or tap tails, nine times out of ten. Turn the little valve a quarter turn and it can wait for us.

What the badges actually mean
Allowed to work on your boiler
Anyone working on gas in the UK has to be on the Gas Safe Register. Dan and Priya are. Ask to see the card when they arrive and check the number on the register's website.
Public liability insurance
Covers damage to your home while we're working in it. Jo can email the certificate before the visit if you want to see it.
The price is written down first
Small jobs are fixed prices from the list. Bigger jobs get a written quote before anything is ordered. If we find something worse under the floor, we stop and talk before anything is added.
12 months on our workmanship
Written on the invoice. If something we fitted or fixed fails inside a year, we come back and put it right at no cost.
Things we don't do
A short list we've kept to since 2008.
The written price is the bill. Anything extra gets agreed with you first, in writing, or it doesn't happen.
Emergency rates are read out on the phone before the van moves. Daytime quotes inside our area cost nothing.
If a £120 repair buys your boiler three more winters, that's what we'll tell you. The swap can wait until it can't.
Dust sheets down before the tool bag opens. Boots off or covered. The packaging leaves in the van.
If a job overruns you get a call, with a real time, before you've had to ring us to ask.
If we open a wall and find something worse, work stops and you get a revised price to say yes or no to. You can say no.

Old boiler condemned Tuesday, new one running Thursday
Fourteen-year-old boiler failed its service with a cracked heat exchanger. Like-for-like combi fitted in the same cupboard, system flushed, filter added, warranty registered.
Damp patch on the kitchen ceiling, one board lifted
Found with the thermal camera in twenty minutes: a weeping compression joint on the bathroom feed. One floorboard up instead of the whole floor. Charged what was quoted on the phone.
Radiators cold at the bottom for two winters
Nine radiators, black water on the first test. Flushed in a day, two tired valves replaced while we were at it, magnetic filter on the return. The back bedroom is finally warm.
