Fees

Fixed monthly fees.

Three packages. Each one lists what is in it and what it costs, and the fee does not move because you rang us. If the work changes, the fee changes in writing, before we do it.

Which package

Three questions.

How does the business trade?
Anyone on the payroll besides you?
How often do you want to see the numbers?
No hourly clock, ever

Calls and emails are inside the fee

We do not bill by the hour, and we do not keep a timesheet against your name. Phone calls, emails, a second look at a contract, a quick word about a van: all inside the fee. Clients ring us earlier because of it, and earlier is cheaper for everyone.

If the work genuinely changes (a second company, a VAT registration, a payroll that grows from two to twelve) we tell you the new fee before we do anything, in writing, and you decide.

Questions about fees

Questions before signing

Is there a joining fee?
No. The first month’s fee covers the set-up: software, bank feeds, opening balances and the letter to your old accountant. If there is a backlog to tidy, we quote that separately and you approve it first.
My books are a mess. What happens?
We have seen carrier bags, we have seen three years of nothing. The tidy-up is quoted by the month it covers, in writing, before we open the first statement. Then the monthly fee starts and it stays tidy.
Can I change package?
Yes, from the next month. Most changes are upwards, when a sole trader forms a company or a company hires. Going the other way is fine too.
What if I am late sending you something?
We remind you, twice, well before the deadline. If it still arrives late and a filing has to be rushed, we tell you honestly whether it can be done in time. There is no rush fee; there is sometimes a penalty from HMRC, and we will have warned you about it.
Do you really not charge for phone calls?
Really. A call that stops a mistake is the cheapest thing we do all year.
What is the notice period?
A month, in writing. We hand everything to your next accountant properly, and we answer their clearance letter within a week. Nobody is held hostage over a login.
