- On foot From the Market Place, walk up past the town hall, take the arch on your left beside the old tannery wall. We’re at the end of the yard.
- By train Loughborough station is a 15-minute walk, or five minutes in a taxi from the rank outside.
- By car The town-centre car parks are all within three minutes’ walk and are free after 6pm. The yard itself is pedestrian only.
- By bike Racks in the yard, under the lamp, in view of the bar.
Kitchen last orders: 9.30pm Tuesday to Thursday, 10pm Friday and Saturday, 8pm Sunday. Sunday roasts from noon until they sell out. The bar stays open after the kitchen closes.
Getting in and getting comfortable.
- Step-free from the yard to every table, the bar and the Oak Room. The counter stools are high; tell us and we’ll seat you at a low table with the same view of the fire.
- Accessible toilet on the ground floor, next to the bar.
- Quieter tables in the booths at the back. Ask for one when you book; the notes box is there for exactly that.
- Assistance dogs anywhere. Other dogs on the covered terrace, with a bowl of water and usually a bit of something from the pass.
- Children welcome until 8pm in the main room and any time in the Oak Room. High chairs, half plates, crayons.
- Menus in large print on request, and every dish’s allergens on a sheet behind the bar.
Give someone the fire.
Vouchers for any amount from £25, or for a set thing: the chef’s counter for two, the natural wine flight, Sunday roast for four. Printed on card, posted first class the same day, valid for twelve months.

Things people ask before they come.
Do I need to book?
For a table, yes from Thursday to Sunday and it’s wise midweek. The twelve counter stools and the bar are always walk-in. Use the Reserve button; it takes about a minute.
How long do we have the table?
Two hours for up to four, two and a half for five or six. If the room is quiet nobody will move you on; if it’s busy we’ll let you know when you sit down.
What if we’re late or need to cancel?
We hold the table for 15 minutes past your time. Cancel by replying to your confirmation text any time up to 4pm on the day. No-shows on Friday and Saturday are charged £10 a head, which is why we take a card.
Is there a dress code?
No. You’ll leave smelling of woodsmoke either way.
Can I eat here if I’m vegan or coeliac?
Well. About a third of the small plates are vegan, most of the menu is gluten-free or can be, and the board always has garden plates. Tell us when you book and the kitchen sets up your table before you arrive.
Can we bring our dog?
Assistance dogs anywhere. Other dogs on the covered terrace, which is heated and has the same menu.
Can we just come for a drink?
Yes. The bar runs its own list, the smoked old fashioned is the thing to order, and snacks are served at the bar until the kitchen closes.
