Quorn, Leicestershire · coffee, bakes, brunch

A proper cup, by the brook.

Coffee from a roastery seven miles up the road, bread and cakes out of the oven before the door opens, and a room that lets you sit. At the bottom of Ferrers Row, where the lane meets the water.

The café

Two small rooms and a garden down to the brook.

An old saddler’s at the bottom of Ferrers Row, open since the spring of 2024.

The coffee is roasted for us at Little Hollow in Woodhouse Eaves and dialled in before the door opens. Ruth’s sourdough goes in the oven at five. The cakes change with what’s good, and the board by the counter says what’s left.

Sit by the window and watch the lane. Bring the dog. Open the laptop on a Tuesday and nobody will move you on. Sunday brunch runs until one.

  • Dogs welcome, bowls out
  • Oat milk, nothing extra
  • Pram room in the back
  • Step-free from the lane

Today’s bakes

What’s on the counter today.

Ruth bakes before we open, in one small oven, so the counter is at its fullest at eight and thins out by lunch. The board is written at half seven and updated from the till as things go.

Want something put by? Ring before ten and we keep it under a cloth with your name on.

Reviews

What people say.

★★★★★

Sunday brunch, table by the window, stayed two hours over one pot of tea. Nobody hovered.

Sarah · Quorn
★★★★★

Took the dog in after the brook walk and there was a water bowl down before we’d sat. The bacon roll did the rest.

Dave · Barrow upon Soar
★★★★★

The cinnamon buns go by ten. I know because I’ve been the one who got there at five past.
